BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) — David Randall, 56, of Boise, appeared in state district court Wednesday, arraigned on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of Darla Fletcher, his ex-girlfriend
Randall, who was arrested Tuesday, said little during his video arraignment, at times, not even answering a judge's questions.
Prosecutors say sometime between Sunday and Monday, Randall beat Fletcher, 56, with a blunt obect and stabbed her to death at his home on Cambria Lane in Boise.
Fletcher failed to show up for a family gathering, and prosecutors say her adult son went to Randall's home, where he found Randall outside.
Prosecutors said the son went inside the house and found his mother dead on a couch.
Prosecutors also say Randall had blood on his hands.
They also say the victim was tortured before she was killed.
Fletcher had apparently made arrangements to pick up some of her belongings at the defendant's house after their relationship ended.
Prosecutors say Randall had also been stalking Darla Fletcher after their relationship ended.
Randall is being held without bond on a first-degree murder charge.
Prosecuors would not say whether they are seeking the death penalty and have 90 days to decide. A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 30.
