WHERE TO BUY THE NINTENDO SWITCH IN AUSTRALIA
If you’re looking to pick up a Nintendo Switch, these are the Australian retailers to head to:
Amazon Australia sells the full range of Nintendo Switch consoles, along with hundreds of games and both popular and hard-to-find accessories. It also offers free shipping and returns on millions of eligible products for its Amazon Prime members and allows you to see customer ratings and reviews before you buy.
If you aren’t already an Amazon Prime member, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial to try the service for yourself. In addition to granting you free shipping and returns, Prime membership also unlocks a range of other benefits including access to exclusive deals and offers, unlimited access to movies and TV episodes with Prime Video, access to 2 million ad-free songs and unlimited access to over 1,000 books and magazines with Prime Reading.
The Good Guys stocks the standard range of Nintendo Switch consoles, alongside a select range of accessories. The store offers a great selection of payment options (including Afterpay, Zip, PayPal and Latitude Pay), along with Click and Collect and next day delivery for some postcodes.
Stocking both new and second-hand Nintendo Switch consoles, games and accessories, eBay Australia is a go-to for both popular and difficult-to-find Switch products. As products are sold through third-party sellers, shipping and delivery fees differ from product to product.
However, eBay Plus members can take advantage of free metro express delivery and free returns on millions of eligible items. Afterpay is also available on eligible products for all shoppers.
In addition to selling the original Nintendo Switch console, the Switch Lite consoles and the OLED console, Target Australia stocks top-rated Switch games and a handful of the most popular Nintendo Switch accessories. Target offers free click and collect for orders over $20, free home delivery for eligible orders over $45, Flybuys points, Afterpay, flypay and Zip.
Popular department store Big W is well known for its great range of products and competitive pricing, making it a top spot to shop the full Nintendo Switch line. The store provides plenty of delivery options, including direct to boot, 2 day delivery and same day delivery. It also offers Afterpay, Zip and Lay-by.
Though Harvey Norman currently doesn’t sell the Switch OLED, it stocks the original console and the Lite consoles; including special edition versions, such as the Monster Hunter Rise edition, the Dialga & Palkia edition and the Animal Crossing edition. The store also carries popular Nintendo Switch game titles and accessories.
Harvey Norman offers same day and scheduled delivery, free 1-hour click and collect and a live chat option to help you out if you have any questions as you shop.
Popular electronics retailer JB Hi-Fi carries a huge selection of Switch games and accessories, along with the entire Nintendo Switch console range. The store offers a price match guarantee and flexible payment options including Afterpay, Zip and Latitude Pay.
Deals site Catch stocks the full Nintendo Switch console line-up, along with popular games and accessories. The site has free delivery for its Club Catch members, and gives shoppers the opportunity to accumulate Flybuys points as they shop. Afterpay, Zip Pay and Latitude Pay are also all available.
NINTENDO SWITCH VS. NINTENDO SWITCH OLED
Released in October 2021, the OLED Model is the latest console in the Nintendo Switch line-up. It includes several of the best features of the original, including removable Joy-Con controllers for flexible gameplay, an extensive catalogue of compatible games and the ability to play it in three different modes (TV-docked, tabletop and handheld).
So what’s the difference between the OLED and the original Switch console? Well, the main difference lies in the name itself. The new console features an OLED screen which offers sharper contrast, more vibrant visuals and more efficient power consumption than the original Switch’s LCD screen. The screen on the OLED is also bigger, measuring in at 7-inches as opposed to the original’s 6.2-inches.
Other new features include a built-in wired LAN port on the dock — allowing for a stable wired internet connection when in docked play mode — enhanced audio and 64GB of storage, instead of the 32GB we saw on the original Switch.
Despite these additions, the Switch OLED is only a tiny bit larger and heavier than the previous model, so it’s still ideal for on the go use.
