Even if you don’t particularly care about the bride, most people enjoy looking at wedding photos. So here you go – on Friday, Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell married Formula 1 racing team boss Christian Horner in England. The bride and groom have apparently known each other for years, although they’ve only “officially” been together since March 2014. I say “officially” because Horner left his partner of 14 years for Ginger Spice. It’s a mess. I’ll get to that in a moment. For now, let’s just talk about the wedding stuff. Here’s something I didn’t know/realize: this is Ginger Spice’s first wedding! I thought she had been married a few times already, but no. She’s been engaged several times and she’s the mother of 9-year-old daughter Bluebell.
The wedding took place at the Woburn Abbey in Buckinghamshire. Ginger Spice wore a gown made by Phillipa Lepley with lace sleeves and a “hidden corset.” She carried a bouquet of what looked like pale pink, peach and cream roses. I like her bouquet more than the dress. The dress is inoffensive though – I don’t find it especially amazing or especially hideous. I guess you could say it’s “timeless.” And I’m a little bit shocked that Spice Girl went so conservative/traditional with her look. Certainly I wasn’t the only one expecting a strapless, bejeweled mermaid dress? Geri also Instagrammed her something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue – go here to see.
As for the mess… Horner left his partner of 14 years, Beverly Allen, for Ginger. Horner and Allen never married, although when he left her, she had just given birth to their daughter Olivia a few months beforehand. Apparently, Horner’s parents were “devastated” that he dumped his long-term partner for a Spice Girl, and the parents boycotted this wedding. Horner’s brothers did come. But it’s still a mess.
